Supplemental Coverage
Accident Insurance:
Coverage will range from $500 to $10,000. Accident insurance will come with
a deductible ranging from $0 - $250. Accident insurance pays only in the event
of an accident (I.E. Broken leg or arm, food poisoning, cuts, etc...)
Critical Illness:
Critical Illness Insurance or CI provides a lump sum payment in the event of
a serious illness such as cancer, heart attack, stroke, major burns, or
paralysis. Coverage is taken out while the person is healthy and when an illness
like the ones described above should happen to the covered person the insurance
company pays the selected amount in a one time lump sum payment. The amount of
insurance you can purchase range from $5,000 to $500,000. The higher the amount
the higher the premium will be. The money is to help the individual stay afloat
while they are unable to work. It also helps to pay for expenses that are
incurred while sick. Such as flying or driving expenses, hotel room, car and
house payments, etc.... Not to mention paying your deductible and co-insurance.
Disability:
Provides a monthly income if the individual becomes disabled. This is
usually a percentage of the persons normal income and can vary (60% is usual).
Proof of income must be established to qualify for this.
Long Term Care:
Long Term Care or LTC covers an individual if the need for assisted living,
home health, hospice or a nursing home arises. It is also one of the number one
insurance needs for our aging community. Visit any nursing home or assisted
living and you will see why.
Dental Insurance:
Dental Insurance is a little pricey and will cover most everything done in
the dentist office. There are waiting periods for some of the work done on
teeth. Most supplemental insurance companies will make you wait for 6 months to
have cavities filled and x-ray's before they will pay a dime and upwards of 18
months to have a bridge or root canal done. Meaning they will not pay for those
services until that time has elapsed.
Discount Dental:
Discount dental is a more affordable plan and covers everything from day 1
of your coverage. The company who provides you with the discount on your dental
work has contracted with different dentists through out the state. The dentists
have agreed to charge this client of theirs less than they normally would. You
do have to go to one of the discount company's dentists. If you live near a
populated area you will not have a problem finding a dentist as there are
thousands of dentists on these lists.
Vision Insurance:
Vision insurance is actually discount type of plan to the doctors who are on
their plan (I.E. most plans send you to Pearl, target, Wal-mart, Sam's, or J.C.
Penny for your eye care needs).
Senior Supplements:
Senior supplements are in 2 parts. One is called Part C and covers any extra
medical expenses beyond what Medicare will cover. Then there is also Part D.
This is still pretty new and is the Rx side of the supplement. There are a ton
of Senior Supplements out there for Part C or D or a combination of the 2 under
one plan. All you have to do is look at medicare.gov and you will see how many
you have to choose from. Some Supplements come with Rx (Part D) and the medical
side (Part C) all rolled into one. Some you will have to buy separately. Prices
will also vary greatly from $0 to $250 depending on coverage and PPO or HMO.
Also what company you go with can and will affect your price and coverage. Some
areas can only get certain coverage from certain companies. If you have any
questions just give us a call and we would be happy to discuss any and all of
the options you have. We do not represent every senior supplement product out
there, but we do have most of the big names that you will be more than happy
with. Our office number and email address is on the home page (contact us).
